Requirement to provide a segregated area at the bonded warehouse to prevent contamination to imported goods whilst the new area for imported goods was constructed.

The brief was to provide a sheeted freestanding scaffold erected inside the main ATEF building from floor to the underside of the warehouse roof to minimise contamination during the construction works.

It was decided that a freestanding birdcage type structure was to be built and clad with monoflex sheeting to one face. As this could not be secured to the individual block work of the building floor it was necessary to secure it to the sides and roof steels of the main building structure.

The full scaffold structure was installed in 9 days to minimize disruption to the operations of the dock, the entire project was completed on time and on budget and with no recordable incidents.
